Periodontitis

Reduce risks and prevent tooth loss

Periodontitis is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the tooth-supporting apparatus in which oral hygiene, lifestyle, age, and genetic predisposition play an important role. Early detection of periodontitis, which often progresses unnoticed for a long time, is particularly important. Modern diagnostic tests identify risks early and can prevent irreversible damage.

At our dental practice in Bogenhausen, in addition to the classic measurement of tooth depth, we also rely on three-dimensional X‑rays for diagnosis to accurately assess the condition of the jawbone. This comprehensive analysis enables targeted therapy that aims to minimally invasively remove inflammatory factors such as tartar and biofilm beneath the gumline. This procedure promotes healing and can be supplemented in special cases by bacterial detection tests. This allows us to specifically target the bacterial spectrum with special antibiotics. Through regular check-ups and treatments of the gum pockets, we care for our patients and can thus assess the course of treatment.

In advanced periodontitis, microsurgical regenerative therapies are a way to treat bone defects. The laser-assisted PACT therapy (Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy) can significantly improve the therapeutic outcome. Furthermore, the depth of pockets is minimized and healed through the targeted application of bone replacement materials, hyaluronic acid, and proteins. In addition, regular follow-up appointments and check-ups are essential to clean the gum pockets and maintain dental health in the long term.
