Gum Disease

Reduce risks and prevent tooth loss

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the tissues that support the teeth, in which oral hygiene, lifestyle, age and genetic predisposition all play an important role. Because it often progresses unnoticed for a long time, early detection is especially important. Modern diagnostic tests reveal risks at an early stage and can prevent irreversible damage.

At our practice in Bogenhausen, we complement the classic measurement of pocket depths with three-dimensional imaging in order to assess the condition of the jawbone accurately. This comprehensive analysis enables targeted, minimally invasive therapy aimed at removing the factors that drive inflammation, such as tartar and biofilm below the gumline. This treatment promotes healing and, in certain cases, can be supplemented by bacterial testing, allowing us to target the specific bacteria involved with suitable antibiotics. Through regular check-ups and maintenance of the gum pockets, we continue to care for our patients and monitor the progress of their treatment.

In advanced cases of periodontitis, microsurgical regenerative therapies offer a way to treat bone defects. Laser-assisted aPDT (antimicrobial photodynamic therapy) can significantly improve the outcome. Pocket depths can also be reduced and healed through the targeted application of bone substitute materials, hyaluronic acid and special proteins. In addition, regular follow-up appointments are essential to keep the gum pockets clean and maintain dental health for the long term.
